How to calculate hotel occupancy rate
Divide rooms sold by rooms available and multiply by 100. Selling 300 rooms out of 400 available room nights equals 75% occupancy.
Why occupancy matters
Occupancy shows how much available inventory is being filled. It is most useful alongside ADR and RevPAR.
Occupancy vs. RevPAR
Higher occupancy does not automatically mean stronger revenue performance. A hotel can fill more rooms at lower rates and still produce weaker RevPAR.
